Job Summary

The University of Kentucky is currently seeking an Assistant Dean for the College of Medicine, Northern Kentucky Campus. This position will work closely with the Associate Dean and the appropriate staff at the Northern Kentucky Campus as well as staff from the Lexington campus to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum with an emphasis on the 3rd and 4th year. Recruitment and development of faculty to oversee the clerkships and teach in the clerkships and other clinical rotations and evaluate the effectiveness of the faculty as teachers will be paramount. Additional major responsibilities include assist in overseeing the administrative functions of the office and interacting with our partner organizations.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine-Northern Kentucky Campus. Over time the management duties may expand and include managing staff, evaluating staff, and outreach activities. This position will also assist in the admissions process and student services associated with the clinical rotations.

Although the position is currently part-time, the selected candidate will have an option for clinical hours to make the position full-time.

Preferred Education/Experience

Understanding of the issues facing medical education, with significant experience implementing, leading, and operating a medical education program and the complex issues facing medical schools and their clinical partners.
Experience in curriculum assessment and implementation.
The capacity to develop and enhance mechanisms for student support, retention and evaluation.
Familiarity with community-based medical school campus structures.
An innovative and creative leader committed to continuous improvement in medical education, student life and student services.
A collaborative leadership style that integrates flexibility, creativity, inclusivity, integrity, transparency, a collaborative style, and a supportive attitude that readily engenders confidence and trust.
A demonstrated commitment to diversity and demonstrated success in working with diverse communities.
Familiarity with accreditation requirements and reporting.
