Role Summary:

As our new Sr Staff Digital Product Manager, you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships & influence across executive leadership, product management, engineering and other functional groups to execute the strategy within CoE, across GE businesses, partners and customers. You may mentor one or more junior product managers.

Essential Responsibilities:You will be responsible for contributing to the product management of the global Renewables and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Orchestration solution, with an initial scope focusing on DER modeling/registration/interconnection/provisioning/aggregation as well as DER Optimization. This scope may evolve towards other parts of our DER Orchestration solution depending on business and roadmap priorities year-on-year.



DER Orchestration is GE Digital Energy brand name for what is most often referred to as Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) in the industry. DERMS refers to software solutions aiming to manage Distributed Energy Resources for electrical grid operators at both the Transmission and Distribution levels (TSOs, DSOs). The GE solution spans across all verticals of GE Digital Grid Software solution: Geospatial, Planning, ADMS, EMS, Market Mgt System, Analytics.



As a domain expert for this portfolio, you will engage customers at senior or mid-level management and technical levels to develop/refine portfolio strategy, influence customer & industry direction and execute strategy. You will be accountable for driving successful delivery of products from GE Software, making recommendations on extending software solutions, and representing General Electric to the outside market, including customers, partners and analysts:

Identify and influence market trends and opportunities.

Drive vision & strategy, roadmap and product lifecycle for sub business unit and its portfolio of products & solutions.

Be a domain/business expert for the portfolio to guide and mentor teams, and establish/refine product management processes.

Work cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers, analysts and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy.

Establish and manage relationship across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners, customers and technical experts across industries and geographies.

Establish strong working relationship with account managers, technical sales and user/developer community.

Responsibility for a large product or portfolio of products/solutions with typical revenue influence / target in the range of $10-50M USD per year.

Will have strong financial acumen and accountability.

Responsible to create strong working relationship & influence across product management, engineering and other stakeholder groups to successfully execute business strategy across GE businesses, partners and customers.

Will engage customers as a trusted partner.

Cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy.

Be responsible for product line performance with targets on orders, revenue, cost & margin.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualification:



+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 10 years of professional experience.



+ Minimum of 5 years industry experience in the field of Distributed Energy Resources Management (DERM) software for utilities or aggregators, in roles featuring a strong business analyst contents (use cases, functional specifications, functional design) and spanning into implementation (product, project). Strong knowledge and experience of Distributed Energy Resource (DER) market and solutions (drivers, challenges, actors, business processes, business models, use cases, functions, technologies).



+ 5+ years good overview knowledge of main electrical grid operation tools (GIS (Geospatial Information System), Planning, ADMS (Advanced Data Management Systems), EMS (Energy Management System), MMS (Market Mgt System).







Eligibility Requirements:



+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job



+ Must be willing to work out of an office located in California (USA), Bothell WA (USA), or Melbourne FL (SA).



+ Willingness and ability to travel 15-20% of the time, globally

Desired Characteristics:

More specifically, you will:



+ Represent GE in pre-sales and customer engagement; Represent GE in industry forums, standardization and regulation bodies



+ Understand & capture market trends, customer requirements, competitive landscape, and identify white space and adjacency opportunities



+ Define and guide multi-generational product roadmaps, for applicability on the global electrical grid operators market



+ Define and recommend make/buy/partner strategy; Collaborate with supporting functions to define internally funded initiatives vs customer funded initiatives



+ Produce the detailed functional specifications for the intended features, with a depth enabling Product Development (PD, R&D) to take over and execute development.



+ Teamwork with PD (R&D), all along the product development lifecycle, to make sure that user stories / design / quote / planning / actual development effort / outcome are in line with expectations (scope/cost/quality/delay/design-to-cost)



+ Manage features backlog across the commitment management process, contributing to driving accountability for a unified view across all GED Grid of features priorities



+ Develop and refine the customer value story, in coordination with marketing



+ Develop competitive discriminators and pricing strategy, and more generally develop all material required for the Sales and Commercial Operations teams to offer the products (sales collaterals, cost sheets, price books, generic solution description, Q&A, etc.) as part of the Available-to-Quote process



+ Consult and contribute where required in support of Sales and Commercial Operations teams on proposals and quotations (answer strategy, gap analysis, etc.)



+ Contribute to thought leadership, marketing programs, customer communications



+ Establish, track and drive Business Case for your scope (RoI)



+ Contribute across adjacent roles and segments as warranted.

+ Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long-term enterprise differentiation.

+ Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations)



+ Defines and/or influences pricing strategy for product/ services and alignment across functions and organizations



+ Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, Channel development, Brand Development, etc.)
