Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

                                                                                                                                            

Directs and coordinates the activities of the plant maintenance, SHE, and engineering staff to design plant facilities, manage construction activities, maintain environmental compliance, and manage plant critical systems operation and qualification.  This position has the full responsibility to maintain the building and all equipment in its entirety including permits and utilities.

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Directs and coordinates all maintenance and engineering improvement activities for the entire site and manages projects from concept to completion. 
  • Provides direction and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental and OSHA regulations, company policies and procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Coordinates and directs the facility capital plans to ensure the site prepares, recommends and exerts influence on the approved facilities production and research needs are met.
  • Drives results through supervision and direction of staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans and directs solutions to complex regulatory, mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues. Communicates with peers, subordinates, internal and external customers concerning projects, problems and contractual obligations.
  • Interfaces with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities to manage projects requiring regulatory approval including the FDA, EPA, DEP, L&I, DRBC, PWTA, Township and Local Authorities, and others.
  • Directs the training and development of facilities maintenance and engineering employees to insure there is an adequate and competent staff to accomplish the required tasks. Participates in team development activities and insures the staff operates successfully in a team environment.
  • Develops and maintains the department expense and personnel budget.
  • Follows Teva safety policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Facilities constructed and equipment installed on time and on budget.
  • Highly trained personnel, motivated, and self-directed in their disciplines and accountabilities.
  • A cooperative working environment with department goals consistently met.
  • Compliance with regulatory agencies is maintained and timely action is taken to correct deficiencies.
  • 483’s and quality deficiencies are minimal and injuries are avoided.

Qualifications

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education/Certification/Experience:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical/engineering field.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years related experience or
  • Master’s degree plus five years related experience
  • Four (4) years supervision experience required

 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of or working in the following positions would be helpful:  Special Projects Technician/ Manager; Validation Technician/Assistant Supervisor; also experience with various production processes including Granulation, Encapsulation, Packaging, and Parenterals.
  • GMP certification, HAZWOPER and HAZMAT training, Coach’s certification desired.
  • Project management, mathematical skills, and mechanical inclination and the ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
