Responsibilities

Perspecta is looking for a SENSOR ENGINEER to join a skilled, highly respected and long-standing team supporting New Capabilities Integration efforts for emerging systems. The successful candidate will support product evaluations, system and regression testing, quality studies, new sensor initializations, and/or product algorithm assessments. Candidate should have a working understanding and practical application of modeling components of the image path to include sensor, detector, atmospheric, and material properties. Familiarity with current GEOINT systems and products will be necessary to develop, assess, and execute test and verification methodologies.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sensor modeling; decomposing product formation elements to quantify the overall quality of the image chain
  • Algorithm assessment to quantify the performance of a product given desired mission application
  • Baseline assessment of system performance to support sensor initialization
  • Regression analysis and evaluations of delivered operational capabilities
  • Development, preparation, and execution of comprehensive test & evaluation plans, procedures and schedules which verify and validate enterprise capabilities, system requirements, performance and operability
  • Readiness for system integration, test, evaluation and transition activities
  • Planning, preparation, and support to transition of New Capability Integration efforts for emerging systems

Qualifications

Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
  • Experience working with GEOINT EO imaging platforms
  • Experience in EO Image Science (Phenomenology, Sensor technology, Image Processing
  • Experience working with GEOINT EO imaging platforms
  • Understanding of Image chain analysis to include sensor modeling, signal quality and noise, optics, detector calibration, and image processing of pixel data
  • Understanding and application of image quality standards, scales, metrics and image quality equations
  • Applied knowledge of sensor imaging systems, products, and exploitation processes
  • Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle to include independent testing and data verification
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn, solve problems and perform in a dynamic work environment

Desired:

  • Degree in Image Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
  • Understanding of the GEOINT enterprise TCPED process
  • Experience working in a DoD or IC operational environment
  • Experience working on Product Initialization teams
  • Experience developing engineering code (e.g. C, Python, Matlab, IDL) to solve hard problems and create processes for repeatable results
