  • Three to five years’ experience, post terminal training in health care working with faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Three to five years’ experience in wellness.
  • Possesses role-model excellence in attitude, compassion, professionalism, and personal behavior.
  • Strong collaborative, organizational, negotiation, time management, and communication skills.

Job Summary
Reporting to the dean of the College of Medicine, this position defines the professional, academic, and administrative activities of a wellness and well-being administrator. This position is responsible for clinical and biomedical areas in the college. Specific responsibilities include:
 
  • Provide strategic vision, planning, and direction to the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives to improve health and well-being outcomes that build upon current strengths and addresses opportunities to improve wellness, integrating efforts with other key strategic themes.
  • Monitor and report outcomes regularly, including measures of engagement, professional fulfillment, health, and well-being, return on investment, value on investment, and track outcome changes with the introduction of interventions to serve the five area models of well-being (mental/spiritual/emotional; career; financial; physical; community well-being).
  • Assess current policies and procedures and how they relate to wellness with the ability to work with the College of Medicine leadership to update policies and procedures that are contradictory to promote wellness; work with college leadership to develop new policies and procedures as needed to ensure effective and compliant programs.
  • Collaborate with the College of Medicine Human Resources Business Partner and the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion to ensure inclusion of wellness for all College of Medicine stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness and provide education related to the impact of professional burnout and the benefit of building resiliency and coping skills.
  • Work closely with communications team to ensure that community-wide messaging is supportive of the well-being for the community served.
  • Implement effective evidence-based individual- and group-level interventions, and system-wide interventions.
  • Partner with mental health leaders to decrease stigma and improve access to, and awareness of, mental health services.
  • Create, promote, facilitate, and model a culture of wellness to improve organizational health and well-being at the system level.
  • Oversee the business plan development for implementation and delivery of programs and services to support well-being.
  • Conduct evidence-based quality improvement efforts that support well-being of all employees and learners in the College of Medicine.
  • Collaborate with available wellness resources and programs in the College of Medicine, UK HealthCare, UK Campus, and community and elevate awareness of such resources and programs.
  • Develop a model to address the causes of burnout.
  • Promote an organizational culture that fosters engagement and personal fulfillment.
  • Represent the dean on wellness-related strategic issues or administrative committees where appropriate.
  • Represent the operations of the College of Medicine as they pertain to wellness to external partners, affiliates, contractors, and accrediting bodies, where appropriate.
  • Assist and promote departmental and institutional applications for external funding on projects targeting aspects of wellness, independently and/or in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with the senior leadership of the University and hospital partners, faculty, and staff regarding policies, procedures, and issues.
  • Advance the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and interact using civility and respect regardless of one’s rank or status, both within the university and in external organizations.

Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Policy/Program Implementation

  • Assist in the refinement and implementation of the college’s wellness strategic plan by increasing and/or developing key metrics with a focus on innovation.
  • Provide leadership in planning and implementation of strategies to advance and maintain LCME accreditation.
  • Serve as a wellness resource, advocate, and representative for appropriate faculty-, staff-, and learner-based groups.
  • Provide guidance on College of Medicine wellness website to ensure accuracy of information.
