High School/GED

At least 6 months experience with Extension, a University or related environmental education experience.

Applicant must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, be available to work long hours in a noisy environment, work in outside/hot/cold conditions, and be on feet for long periods of time while adhering to current COVID-19 guidelines.

Days and evenings Monday through Friday. Internship opportunities range in length during the time frame of August 2022 and November 2022.

Responsibilities include working with school age youth in the following areas: develop and teach hands-on environmental education classes, lead recreational games, campfires, singing, night hikes or other activities that convey the value if the natural environment. Interns will select an environmental project approved by their on-site supervisor and which is an area of interest to the student. They will conduct research and develop the project into a written plan.

Internships available at J M Feltner 4-H Camp (London, Kentucky), West Kentucky 4-H Camp (Dawson Springs, Kentucky), Lake Cumberland 4-H Camp (Jabez, Kentucky), and North Central 4-H Camp (Carlisle, Kentucky).

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.
