Job Description


Teva is searching for a Sr. Microbiologist (Sterile fill SME) to join our team in Irvine, CA!

The Sr. Microbiologist is a very experienced Microbiologist with high level of expertise in all areas of Departmental functions and focused on Sterile Fill, Validations and EM Investigations. You will assist management in establishing operational objectives, goals and project assignments. Work through/solve complex projects/problems, where data and situation analysis is required. You will train and review the work of less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians.


You will:

  • Execute the most technically and scientifically challenging Microbiological tests. Work on special projects and studies. Write protocols, review data and write final reports. Prepare reports for other Microbiological tests. Develop and prepare Environmental Monitoring Trend reports consistent for an aseptic manufacturing facility.
  • Provide input to management on technical issues. Assist management in establishing operational objectives, goals and project assignments and budgets
  • Work on/solve complex projects/problems where data and situation analysis is required.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions. Perform investigations and write summary reports
  • Train less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians as required.
  • Represent department during client and regulatory agency audits. Make presentations for the department as required
  • Follow Teva Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.



  • Bachelors of Science degree, preferably with a Microbiology focus required. MS in Microbiology or related sciences preferred.
  • 7+ plus years relevant experience in a Microbiology laboratory required.
  • 7+ years of experience in a sterile filling environment required. 10 years preferred.
  • Sterile / Aseptic fill required.
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, GLP, FDA guidelines, USP, EP, JP and other applicable industry regulatory requirements required.
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of microbiological testing in a pharmaceutical microbiology Lab required.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMs) preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively and collaborate with co-workers, management and other internal stakeholders.
  • Self-directed with ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Capable of scheduling, planning and working independently. 
  • Detail oriented with ability to identify errors and/or inconsistencies while performing tasks.
